Still don't quite get balanced/unbalanced 1/4" cables
i've had a home studio in one form or another since 82 starting with a Yamaha MT44 4 track cassette and to this day i have never owned a balanced 1/4" TRS cable.
what the heck do they do?
1/4 Inch or RCA
I've been looking into getting some monitors for my home studio. I would be plugging them into a Tascam Interface. I had never really thought about how monitors were connected, but as I looked at the monitors we have at work I realized that the inputs can come in as XLR, 1/4 inch, or RCA. My interface has only RCA outputs. Will this affect the sound quality?

Single 1/4" to Dual 1/4" Adaptor
Should the signal coming from a single heaphone jack on an audio interface be weakened by an adaptor like this when both sets of headphones are plugged in?

1/4" Cables TS vs. TRS, Using Mixer Inserts as Outs
I have a M-16DX digital mixer/interface I want to record with. It has 16 balanced line ins (4 with mic preamps).
I plan to buy a Nady PRA-8 to add some more mic preamps, and an 8-pack of short 1/4" cables. I hear it does have balanced outs, but the distances are short anyway. Should I go TS or TRS 1/4" cables? I want to maximize flexibility of things I can connect with them.
1/4" to XLR
Hi Guys,
I'm thinking of getting a new mixer and can't really afford the money to get one with more than 8 XLR inputs So I did some research and saw you can get 1/4" to XLR cables so i thought i could maybe put some of those in any spare 1/4 inputs as i need more XLR inputs. Would this work? And if it does would there be any major sound quality reduction?

Studer A807 1/4" reel to reel
I have a Studer A807 and I need to replace the pinch roller because the old one just "melted" and thick sticky rubber ran down the front of the machine whilst it was in storage.
Can anyone explain this?
I haven't put chemicals on it and its just a mystery to me.
Thanks
Lozz

Best method to connect XLR to 1/4" TSR
Hi all,
I have a Focusrite Voicemaster Pro connected to the 5th TRS channel of Digi 002R via a homemade XLR-to-TRS cable.
Is using a XLR mic cable and adding a removable XLR/TRS adpator better or using a single custom cable better?
Pardon my ignorance ; P
