I was just looking at picking up some new 1/4" cables to connect stuff in my home studio. Basically, need them to connect preamps to compressors, compressors to the soundcard inputs, nothing fancy. Probably looking at buying about 10 or so for now, probably about 3' to 6' in length. My question is this...

I am in need of a dual adapter for a 1/4" plug(s) and XLR plug(s)..does something like this exist? (see picture i drew) It would allow for me to plugin two headphones for example into one port..or two XLR mics into one port..

If so, where do you buy them from?

:( 1. I need suggestions regarding what kind of mixer to purchase (for under $200) for my little home set up. I want one that has a relatively simple learning curve. I am not that great at this.

I contacted musician’s friend and they suggested one with a USB and firewall. I barely know how to set up the one with the RCA and ¼ cables.

what are the differences, if any? what are the pros and cons for each?

I am trying to make an XLR to 1/4" TS cable for my Eventide Eclipse.
I am using it in the effects loop of my guitar amp. The effects loop is unbalanced, but the Eventide unit MUST be connected via the XLR jacks.
I know I need a 3 conductor cable, and I know how to connect the XLR end, but what do I connect the last wire to on the TS end of the 1/4 TS plug?

anyone know where i can find a stethoscope that i can patch into mixer or recorder or a way to make one. ive researched google, but not too helpful so thought i would run past the forum for any ideas. thanks for any help.

My M-Audio Firewire Solo card seems to be the cause of an unavoidable consistant feedback. I am running 1/4" plugs from my turntables through my Mackie then into the M audio solo. The M Audio card is connected to my laptop through a firewire 800 cable. Im confident its not from the source (turntables) because I have recorded from vinyl using these tables through other sound cards.

Hope I can get a quick, definitive answer on this...

Is a TRS balanced cable the same as a 1/4" stereo cable that you can buy at Radio Shack? When I asked the people in the local Radio Shack, and in our local music store, that I wanted a TRS balanced cable, they looked at me blankly.

I want to make sure they are the same...don't want to blow anything up! :(
