Send data CD-R or 1/4" to be mastered?
I'm recording on Protools, then putting my final mix onto 1/4" tape.
Assuming the Mastering House has both computer editing and 2-trk tape machine, should I take them a 1/4" tape or a CD with the stereo files on it and have them dump it to tape (cuz they might have a 1/2")?
Just wondering what you guys might think.

TT vs. . 1/4" patchbay
Hello Everyone,
I'm embarassed to ask such a dumb question. I'm putting together my home studio, the heart of which is a
Studer A80 MKIV 1"-8 track. I've collected a smattering of nice gear and it's time to wire it to a patchbay. Is there any real advantage of a TT over a high-end (broadcast quality) 1/4" patchbay?
Thanks in advance!
Jules

Please Help With 1/4" TRS to 1/4" TS Question
Hi Folks,
I primarily live in an unbalanced world - with the exception of microphone connections. I have just bought a new piece of gear with balanced 1/4" TRS outs and ins, and my patchbay is 1/4" TS.
Studer D820x 1/4" 2-Track DASH
Anyone knows this machine? I might have a chance to buy it cheap and I'm wondering what it's good for. In 1989 it was considered one of the best mastering decks but I don't know much about features and sound quality compared to what's available today.

sound cards with 1/4" plugs
I think 1/4" is what I am thinking of, this big phono plugs.
Do they make any soundcards with those on them? If I can find one, even a windows only one I think I can scam some time in a really nice studio to do some of my work.

Mikes with the 1/4" adapter?
I'm a lo-fi nut, I use primarily vintage 2 track reel 2 reels and I use a Tascam porta7 4-trach recorder. I use the best quality tape possible but am in the dark as far as finding a proper microphone for capturing that "vintage" tone.

"Best" 1/4" to Rear Solder Patchbay?
OK, so, we now know to get solid nickel contact patchbays rather than plated. Alright, now what's a good 48-point, 1U, 1/4" to rear solder, solid nickel contact patchbay? And what kind of price are we looking at; for 3-blades and 5-blades?
