Hi! I have a Mackie 32 8 BUS with a PreSonus Firepod! I see that you can mix with the Mackie faders via your computer and I wonder how to do that by recording with my firepod. I just got the mixer and I really don't know how to record with it well, I have my firepod connected on Cubase and I want to introduce the Mackie 32 8 bus into this, please help me!

I am currently looking at used recording consoles that could be used to mix down a whole band in rehearsals.

An 8 bus desk would be great, as it will be feeding into my Yamaha AW1600 for the moment. This records 8 tracks simultaneously.

A 24 track desk would be the ideal size and would offer enough inputs for what I'm looking at.

I read somewhere that sometimes a digital mix will be put onto analog tape and then converted back to digital in an effort to induce the warmth of analog tape.

Is this a common procedure, and how effective is it at doing just that, namely adding some warmth or body, or replicating an analog sound?

My band will shortly be recording a live demo on a Teac 80-8 half inch recorder. Track 1 is kick, 2 is snare, 3 is toms, 4 is all cymbals, 5 is guitar, 6 is lead vocal, 7 is backing vocals, 8 is bass guitar.
Is it better to record everything flat and then compress on mixdown?

I'm using an old Roland CR-78 drum machine. It has both Hi Imp. and Low Imp. outputs on the back (taking mono 1/4" jacks).

Is it safe to use both of these at the same time or will i kill the machine? It would enable me to have one clean channel (High Imp.) and another channel (Low Imp.) running through a chain of effects. Both going into my mixer.

Hi there, I'm a rank amateur and fairly new to this malarky, having previously used such astounding high end software such as PCDJ and the Windows Sound Recorder... I recently decided to upgrade and am now struggling to get to grips with Cakewalk Sonar 7, which may well have been the costliest mistake I have ever made! The problem is this:

I currenntly have a studio with (2) Pro Tools HD 192 systems. A Toft AT32 mixer, 3 Focusrite Octopres, 2 sets of monitors and a bunch of patchbays and outboard gear.

The only thing I use the Toft for is 2 channels out and for a talkback. Also, it looks cool :)
