Analog outboards place in a digital rig
Hi, I've been recording for a short while now. I generally don't use many effects, and when I do, I just use software plugins through Samplitude or whatever.

This unit was mentioned as a decent buy for 16 inputs, so I went to take a look at it to add it to my list of things to watch. I found...

CRane Song analog dither CD
Just received the CRane Song analog dither CD. Per their instructions, I mixed it into a tune I'm mastering (recorded/mixed on Pro Tools LE at 16/44.1 I think - took the CD-R & D/A'd it out of my Tascam CD-RW2000 (24 bit), ran it across my tube A/D at 24/88.2 & into the DAW - which was a huge improvement in itself).

Analog alignment
The recent Dolby tone question brought up something. How many here can and have fully aligned a 24 or 16 track machine before their sessions, Dolby 361, SR, dbx ? Yea I know it’s not that big a deal for old guys like me. :(

15 or 30 ips on 2" analog?
I'd like to know you opinions on this subject. I am about to make some rock records on tape, and i have to make the decision on what speed to track. Tape costs are prohibitive here in Argentina, so 15 ips is a lot more affordable to us. I made some comparisons, and I didn't seem to hear any improvement on the bass response on 15, as i expected.

Syncing a Analog Multitrack to DAW
I am considering purchasing an analog reel-reel 8 track recorder and using it along with my DAW which consists of a Gadget Labs 824 soundcard and N-track. I would like to record bass and drums on the reel-reel and the rest on the DAW, can these two machines be accurately synced together? How does one go about doing this?

pro control analog section
Hi Greg and everyone
I love my procontrol. I absolutely hate it's analog monitoring section. It's embarrassing.
Do you know of anyone in London who might be able to improve it for me.

Analog compression before digital? Driving you mad?
Analog compression before digital? I do it, because I am not totally knocked out with plugin compression so far. and I am pretty much doing what I used to do while recording to 2" tape..
I dont do it for "tape sound" (*see below)
Or to serve max level to my converters (*see below)
I do it to compress!
What do you DAW guys do?
