Tape/Channel-strip analog style plugs for PC?
Hi,
I was just wondering if anyone knew of any VST or DX tape/channel-strip style plugs, similar to the McDSP and DuY stuff.
Thanks,
Mitchell
Help choosing an analog mixer Cad Maxcon?
Hi,
does anybody have experience with a Cad maxcom Mixer? I'm looking at a 48 channel one to use with Pro Tools. I've heard a couple of good things but I can't find a lot of info on the net.
Thanks

Analog Secrets, Digital Realm: Mixing
Ye who are wise in the ways of science:
I have made my way thru two books about mixing over the past 10-14 days. Behind the Glass and The Mixing Engineer's Handbook. (I love to buy a few rounds of thick java at the bookstore and read for many hours! :s: )

Analogue vs. . digital mixing
I'm a digital daw kinda guy. I love editing audio and working with plugs etc. I love all that is good with digital...what PISSES me off about it all is mixing. It seems to take forever to get the mix happening, then when you get it, it's not quite there...there's something missing. Most stuff mixed on DAWs that I have heard has it. I don't want my stuff to have it any more.

How do get that nice final 2 tracks mix from analog back
I like the sound of mixing 8 channels out of my 001 into my 1642 mackie. I like separating 8 channel into analog. Sounds big ! Problem is when I record that fat mix back to hard drive the new 2 channels don't sound that good. How do I get that nice separated/fat sound on final 2 tracks.
Digital vs. . . Analog Mixer
OK folks...this one is bound to spark some debate...
I am about to make a change to my studio setup as follows:
I am using Cubase SX, have a Tascam US-428 as a control surface, and an old POS analog mixer that I use for monitoring only (nothing that gets recorded goes through the Tascam or the mixer).
My plan has been to add 2 pieces of gear:

1/2" analog (SR?) or Masterlink?
Could I get some feedback on what you guys are using more typically for a mixdown medium?
A while ago I picked up a Fostex E-22 1/2" 2 track (15-30ips) and am pondering whether I should get a couple channels of SR for 15ips mixdown or junk it and get a masterlink. Or is it really worth it to have both these days (analog and digital mixdown formats)? Any feedback on SR at 15 ips?
