Greetings. I'm new to the list, but please tolerate a couple basics questions. . .

I do my home recording on a Tascam Porta 07 (yeah, a few years old). Its worked fine for my home songwriting, etc. and I've relied on professional studios for higher quality recording of my CDs and the like.

I use the Boss VF-1 effect processor. I know the Guitar Input on front overrides the left/right Input on back...However, Can I use the Digital Out and the Analog Outs at the same time? Or does one override the other? Is there a general rule? Or does it vary on the piece of gear?

hey Fletcher I noticed you had a doing in the ultimate analog 8 track 2" JHF mod. I was wondering how things sounded on that beast.

anyone remember this stuff :) anyway, I know of someone who has a ton of
Ampex 765 (i think its 765-anyway its close) this is 1" data tape on 12"
reels and it all looks in pretty good shape. Anyway the question is can I
use this tape on my 1" machine for recording music. Will I experience
problems with it? will is cause excessive head wear?

I am currently using a Yamaha 4416 but am thinking of purchasing the Alesis HD24 when it comes out, just so I can go back to an analog mixer (man do I miss knobs). Is this bad to go from Digital to analog than back to Digital for CD? Will my sound be much worse than using the 4416, that I am currently using?

Like the subject says. Do you like it, or should I look for something better? How much would you pay for one in "good" condition?

my first post in this forum, though I've been reading it for quite some time already. The best recording forum on the net, wthout a doubt!

So, I've just purchased a Trident series 65 32/16 Console for a bargain ( appr. $5000). The console is working well except some minor flaws, which are easy to sort out anyway.

IF I understand correctly, you offer three kinds of analog I/O. The "Classic Analog", whixh is "essentially the same 24-channel, 48kHz AD/DA converters used in RADAR II", and therefore the same good sound that Radar's reputation was pretty much built upon, and then there are TWO Nyquist Analog I/Os.

I was just checking out the Analog Lovers Bundle of the Radar 24. That is basically the way I'd want to use it; Tracking and mixing through an analog board and outboard equipment.

If so, which outputs are preferable for 2-bus analog compression?
