Leaving the world of analog 4-tracks:

Hello all! I am new here, I've been reading up on as many posts as I can but I have to be honest... A lot of this stuff is WAY over my head. I have had good luck in the past using just two 4-track recorders to bounce tracks off one another but I think that it is time I got into digital: I'd like to be able to make some quality mixes for my own music. I do have an Alesis Blackface ADAT.

Analog + Digital: I found a solution!

I have a fairly advanced MOTU setup that I been working with since last year, and it's been frustrating to feel so close, yet so far, from mixes that sparkle. After much lurking, theorizing, and some experimentation (which was helpful in confirming what wasn't working), I sprang for a Midas venice console and WOW! What a difference!

Analog 8-track

I'm looking for an analog 8-track reel to reel. Sound quality is a big concern, but so is price, so I'd like to find a nice balance. Which models fit this description? Where should I look, pawn shops, ebay? How much should I expect to pay for a decent unit. Thanks for the help

digital vs. . analog vs. . digital vs. . analog vs. .

So, the other day I had a long discussion with a friend who is learning engineering. He says that analog is way superior to digital in every way bla blab blah..you have heard this before I'm sure. I replied that, of course there are numerous differences in the reproduction of the sound, from a business perspective digital is king.
