Help with Jazz Big Band Recording

Hi all,

I know there have been a couple of big band threads in the past and I have scoured them for details. I was hoping some of you might be able to jump in and help me out with a big band jazz recording I've got coming up. I've mostly recorded small groups, solo singer/songwriters, with the occasional rock band and church choir thrown in.

First, the setup of the band:

Recording a band in a tight space: need advice!

Hi all,

I am just starting out recording bands. In a few weeks I have a recording session with an indie-rock band coming up. I will be recording them in a well-equipped, but very small studio. There are no iso booths or chambers to put the guitar and bass amps. This poses a few problems I'd like your advice on.

Recording 4 member band opinions...separate or together?

Hey geniuses. I'm in a high school sophomore in a band (bass, drums, guitar/vocals) and we are planning to start recording soon. We play pop punk and modern rock mostly i would say. We don't have enough money for studio time yet, but we want to make a quality demo making due with our own equipment. I would be using garageband or Cubase to record us using the Lexicon Lambda interface.

sonic youth-style band coming in...

I will have a Sonic Youth-type band coming in in a couple of weeks, so i'm trying to gather a little information about what was used to record at their sessions, I could only find one of the studios' name ("Murray Street", the band's own facility)but nothing particular about Micing techniques/equipment/engineers etc... also searching recording.org did not yield any results..
