In a few days I'm going to do a PA mixing of a higher profile concert event and therefore I am looking at further improving my PA mix sound.

I use garageband and a m-audio fast track interface

when I record straight from guitar to interface to computer i get very low output on my screen. there is just a thin line that goes down the middle of the media bar.

what can i do there is actual amplitude?

I've tracked a number of VOs for a class (which sadly lacks the scope of getting to instruments) and some bits and pieces of music, but I am tracking two full songs for the first time this weekend and I would like to hear any tips, tricks, or lessons learned. I'm totally fine with making mistakes and learning from them, but I'd like to be aware of some cautions too!

I have a few questions about what would be the best way to proceed with a catalog I share with another writer and as a songwriter in general. If anybody knows a lot about this stuff, or thinks they have any good ideas, I would be very grateful.

I am new to live sound recording. Now I am going to have a project which is a live recording session of Lead vocal with acoustic guitar and KB, Bass guitar and percussion on the side doing background vocals. I am concerning about the wiring issue: It contains Millennia HV-3D,Focusrite ISA430 MkII, an analog Studer mixer and a few mics in my gear list, so how do I get started?

I want to record some music in the band I am in, but I want to get as good of a sound out of the recorder as I can. The band consists of 1 singer, 2 guitarists, 1 bassist, and 1 drummer. The recording device I use is an Alesis Multimix 16 USB 2.0. The mixer as a 3 band EQ and does high pass filtering at 75 hz.

Hi. Me and my friends want to record band practice but none of us have the slightest idea of what equipment we need. About the only thing we know is that we need mics and thats about it. So, what more equipment do we need? Any help would be greatly appreciated.
