I'm planning to venture into the world of sound engineering on a purely amateur basis and I'd like to have a starting point.

I play classical violin and a bit of electric blues guitar but I can predict that most of my recordings will be acoustic.

Hey guys, as you can see I'm new here and know absolutely nothing about recording. I play guitar and am starting a band sometime soon. I want a studio in my room so I can record ourselves and maybe help other bands record to earn a little money.

I have nooo idead what I need or what I have to buy. I have used a CO1U Usb mic...but didn't really like cause I couldn't hear myself in the headphones. I'm looking to record using a mixer or something non digital or half digital. I have NO equipment,mics, or anything. Just headphones. I would like to now the basics of what I will need and what would be good. I'm doing mostly hip hop things.

So I've started recording on my PC recently. I started out a while ago with a Soundblaster Audigy2 and a Shure sm57. I also have a Marshall MG100DFX combo amp. I recorded everything with the sm57 straight to the soundcard, except electric guitar which I ran through the Marshall MG100DFX emulated line out and then to the soundcard.

hi there. i am trying to put together a home studio that will be able to record live muli-track. as of now, i've been just recording one track at a time, and i'm ready to jump to the next level.

Ive recently bought a midi keyboard and Cubase SX. Im new at this whole thing. Ive been playing keyboard for a long time, especially movie themes and famous songs.

I am new to using mixers and I'd like to have one in order to connect my guitar, a mic, and a CD player to my home stereo system.

I am trying to choose between:
- Soundcraft Compact 4
- Yamaha MG10/2
- Alesis Multimix 6FX

Do you have experience with any of these mixers and which one would you suggest?

Please don't laugh at my questions; I am a complete beginner and I like mixers (I guess being an engineer I like lots of knobs :) )

I was wondering if there is any use for a simple mixer in setting up a home audio system.
