I have to make a decision concerning DA converters. I have a mastering studio in the netherlands and started cutting vinyl 3 years ago and cutting production lacquers since january.

I'm getting into mastering and wanted some opinions on different AD/DA converters. I'm sure this has been discussed before but I wanted to know which converter fits a certain style of music if any. I know they all have their own characteristics but need some info before I go out and spend $$$. I am doing more dance electronic, hip hop, aggressive music where the client wants it LOUD.

I've eagerly searched the archive but haven't really found the answers, so I'm hoping to kick off an old thread but with a particular
interest here.

I currently have the Lynx L22 which has great converters compared to your standard audio interface card (at least the ones I've heard). I am looking to get an external DA converter though. My question is, would the Lucid DA9624 be a viable upgrade from the lynx converters or would it be a waste of money considering the the lynx converters are decent?

Application:
Correct a weak snare drum.
Use a snare drum audio track to trigger a Midi keyboard.
I have been searching for a suitable audio to midi converter. Like a VST or Dxi.

Software:
Cakewalk Sonar 4.0 producer.

I am getting an Apogee Rosetta 2-channel converter and I have a couple of dumb questions. How do I connect this to my 002R and does this disable the converters in the digi? Is this a firewire or USB type of connection? Thank you in advance and I am still hopefully learning!

I'm looking at getting an 8 analog input A/D converter that converts to ADAT Lightpipe. The AI-3 is looking tempting, and I can't afford an Apogee. Does any have anything to say about the AI-3? I've read mixed reviews online. Any suggestions under $1500?
