Converter quality of the Tascam FW-1884
It's hard for me to believe that for getting so much for so little, that this unit would have high quality Converters and Pres. But we are heading to 2004 in such a brave new world :)

A/D converter question?
Recently I have had the luck of being around some pretty good equipment. Including some very nice converters. I have heard the Lynx22, Apogeerosetta, and a pro tools rig. All sounded very nice. I couldn't really pick out much because I dont know how much of the sound I was hearing was contributed to the pre, mic,or effects.

A/D converter or wordclock?
I've got a Digi001 rig with a PreSonus Digimax as my mic preamp. I use the ADAT output on the Digimax into pro tools as to free up all the analog i/o's on the 001 for outboard gear/additional mics. My question is regarding converters vs external wordclocks.

A/D Converter Question
How much impact will adding a A/D converter to my studio add versus using the converters in my Delta 1010? I probably know the answer to this already, but will it be a significant improvement or more subtle? What will I notice.

Converter Poll
The poll construction was a little a-scew.
I intended for the 11 options to be rearranged in order of preference, but I couldn't get it to format in that way,
Sorry about that.
We can still use the poll to judge the single best, and follow up with additions to this post to rearrange in order of preference.
If you could be bothered.

USB -to serial converter for MIDI
I'm setting up a Digital Performer 3 system on an G4 Titanium laptop. As a stop gap before purchasing a USB MIDI interface, I got a Belkin USB-serial adaptor.
Haven't been able to set up my MTP II to work using this interface--anyone had any experience doing this?
Thanks!
