Hi, I was just wondering real quick, where should the dynamic mic be placed in relation to the mouth if you want it to pick up higher frequencies?

I just got this pair of headphones today. Haven't used them yet. But they were expensive, and I want to validate the purchase. Anyone have an opinion on these?

I don't have a professional recording space, so my vocals come out with a lot of background noise. I have an Audix i5 dynamic which is meant to mic guitar cabinets so the amount of gain I have to put on in post-production just to hear it is ridic, this also boosts all background noise.

I'm in no way, shape or form a "pro". I'm simply tasked with taking a not-for-profit/fundraiser, live play and make it sound good. So please, no flames at my obvious ignorance?
