Optimum Drum Micing choice
I'm recording a 2 piece rock band and I'm wanting to get a very loud drum sound... kind of like a dirtier black keys, and I'm working in a decent sized studio but I'm a little overwhelmed with my selection of gear and thought i'd ask for some advice on my selections.
Im recording with Pro Tools HD3 with a few outboard pres and a Yamaha DM2000 digital console.

Has anyone done a sound comparison with the Shure beta 52a with a pg52? I have the opportunity to pick up the 6 piece PG set for close to the same price as a single beta 52a. Opinionsout there?

Heavy audio processing management for drum's close mics and overheads.
Lately I'm re-listening some of the The Roots albums as well as some acts from electronic scene who use acoustic drums like Nerve.

What mics are best for drum overheads and bass drum recording?
I'm looking for cheap (50-100 dollar range for each mic) overhead and bass drum mics to record my drum set. I already know what I'm going to be using for the snare (sm57 of course).
Thanks

Audio-Technica Drum Mics
Just bought one of those snare/tom mics with a short stand off a guy for 20 bucks. Are they any good? They seemed to sell for like 350 new for the kit of 4 mics and they are built and look similar to the ATM line {like tanks}. I might buy the rest of the kit off of him if I like. Thought I couldnt really beat the price i am on a very very tight budget.

What do you think of this drum mic setup?
So, I'm upgrading some gear soon and am in need of new drum mics. I think I'm going to run a mainly Audix setup. I don't have a TON of cash, but am willing to pay a little extra for a good sounding mic that will last me a while.
