Using 4 tracks as Tape Echo units

Hi,

Is it possible to use old 'ministudios' like Tascam 424s as tape echo units?

Did those things have seperate Play/record heads? Or would you just be hearing the signal going through the mixer, and not the recorded signal?

I realize you can do this with reel to reel, bit what about cheaper stuff like cassette 4-track machines?

Cheers,

Jaike

Newbie - Mastering LIVE recording - echo, reverb, bass issue

Greetings,

Through a friend's suggestion, I have found my way to this forum to get a push in the right direction toward "cleaning-up / re-mastering" a LIVE U2 show that was recorded in the old Seattle Superdome. This venue is (was) a MASSIVE concrete structure, made for baseball and not a rock show. As a result, there is much "room noise" and "reverb / echo" present.

Specifications for Echo/Reverb

Hey, all. I want to achieve a subtle echo for a vocal track to make it sound more professional... The quality will be applied to jazz vocals so an overkill "pop" studio echo wouldn't be appropriate. Just something to smooth out the sound and polish the track off. Could anyone help me with specific settings for my mixing program?
