Hardware Compression, EQ and effects question... n00b

Hi! I recently got into recording and I use a PreSonus firepod connected with Cubase in my computer. I was thinking of getting a little hardware compressor, reverb or eq and I want to know how I connect it to apply this new effect into already recorded tracks?

Thanks to help me out !

Live guitar EQ issues

i use an Alesis DEQ in my guitar rack. i noticed last night while playing a show that i couldn't hear certain parts of our songs, but then other parts were very audible. i am boosting what i thought where the usual freqs for guitar, but i am wondering if not boosting mids at all is the cause of this. when i say boost, i mean maybe 4db max, and talking freqs from 200-600 and 1.6-6k.

EQ settings for live low voice

I'm having trouble with some live music in the way that we have just okay mics, and the songs we play sound pretty good, but sometimes when the vocal melody has a really low part, it gets lost in the music and you can't understand the words, which is understandable because the bass frequencies mix and mingle with the other stuff and don't get heard as much.
