Description
FireWire is a method of transferring information between digital devices, especially audio and video equipment. Also known as IEEE 1394, FireWire is fast -- the latest version achieves speeds up to 800 Mbps. ... You can connect up to 63 devices to a FireWire bus. IEEE 1394 is an interface standard for a serial bus for high-speed communications and isochronous real-time data transfer. It was developed in the late 1980s and early 1990s by Apple in cooperation with a number of companies, primarily Sony and Panasonic. Apple called the interface FireWire.

Firewire Interfaces

Hi, I'm looking for a firewire interface to work with Live, Reason and Cubase (and soundforge, acid...) for live performances with my MIDI controller/synth microKorg and to play dj sets with traktor.
Furthermore I would like to record my acoustic band and make some commercial tracks.
After a research I'm interested on M-Audio Firewire 410 and the PreSonus Firebox.

Bus Powered Firewire Devices

I have an M-Audio Firewire interface. It's bus powered and doesn't have a power switch. When I turn my computer off, it stays on. It is always on, unless I unplug the firewire cable. I know it's not a big deal, but it bugs the hell out of me knowing this thing is on all of the time. I know it does this with other bus powered firewire interface too.

Firewire interface for guitar / effect to PA?

Hoping this is the right forum to post this. I play at church with up to 3 different guitars on a given night. My current setup is a 6 channel DI box which outputs to a 8 channel mixer. The mixer has an FX loop for effects then out to church board then to PA. Since one of my guitars is running a Roland GR-33 synth that too is another signal.

Firewire Interfaces

does anyone make or are ther plans to make a multi-channel firewire recording interface without expensive mic preamps built in?

I want a device to interface with my DAW that I can plug all my high-end mic preamps into without spending lots of extra cash on so-so preamps that come bundled with most of the interfaces available today.

Moderatley Priced Firewire Interface and Question RE: Midi

Ight, Ive leared what I need to setup my DAW however, I need some advice on what to buy for my budget.

I need a firewire interface that can handle a digital piano, guitar and mic for less than 300. I have looked at the INSPIRE and some KORG and M-Audio and they all seem relitivley decent but then again I really dont know.

Any suggestions?
