Looking for a very good but simple Headphone Amp (under $300). Though I have a small recording setup, I need something more than the small one-third rack space 5 headphone volume box I have been using. I would like something with an input gain, and a fair amount of amplification to 4 to 8 headphone jacks, with possibly some level indicators per channel.

I have just recorded two CD's for clients. One is vocal with piano and the other is solo piano. Both were recorded with Steinway B's.

I was thinking of purchasing a pair of headphones to make Micing decisions. And also as an alternative mix reference.

We get AKG's and Sennheisers around here. What are my good options ?

Also, I was thinking of picking up a couple of AKG K55 (cheap) headphones for cue mixes to the floor. Do these work well ?

Isolation (sound bleeding OUT of the headphones)
Quality
Comfort
Fatigue
Price

Looking at Sennheiser HD 280 Pro, Ultrasone (model?), and Bose QuietComfort 2.

Any others to consider?

is there a difference in the sound of the k240df and k240s?
I want to buy mixing headphones, somebody i know who run a good studio for years suggested me beyer dt990pro, but they are a bit over my budget, how do they sound different than the k240 ? do they really worth saving up?

this question is aimed more at the guys who are running DAW I guess, without an analog mixer (staying completely internal),

I've got another thread out here asking about a subwoofer - just to use to check if the bass is out of control...

Would you guys recommend just getting a really nice set of headphones instead that reach way down there?

Is there a set of headphones that it would be safe to trust - just for making sure the low end is in check?
