First off, I don't know anything. I'm totally new to playing with this stuff.

I've looked at several "trackers" . Modplug, Fast Tracker, Acid Pro ... and each of them seems to use a grid style interface for composing music. Are there any programs or plugins that allow you to write music in a sheet music style?

Can a USB Audio interface like the Behringer's BCA2000 ( http://www.Behringer.com/BCA2000/index.cfm?lang=ENG )substitute my PC Soundcard ? USB Audio Interfaces do the same and don't depend on Soundcards ?

I have a apple powerbook g4 running bias deck 3.5... i want to multitrack interface, like 4-6 tracks at once. I'm very new to firewire interfaces. Is there one that can record 4-6 or more tracks at once for between $300-500? Thannks- caleb

ok so ive been recording my band for about a year now (full songs for download at ), and when i started i knew nothing about recording, nothing. so anyway, i was wondering if you guys have some suggestions about what hardware to use. My first post and hello to everyone.

I am getting a MOTU 828 mkII, some basic software (Cubase SE) and a computer (PC) with big ram space, fast cpu etc.. I plan on updating the software later on, but would just like to be able to send and recieve audio by Firewire to the computer.

Maybe someone can help me here:

I have a really old analog Yamaha RM1608 sixteen track mixing board. I also have a Tascam US-122 Audio/MIDI interface running into a computer equipped with Cubase SL.

to buy a better pc soundcard?
