Brushes on jazz snare - tips? help?
I recorded drum tracks for Misty with my jazz group last night. Among several other problems we are having with the song, I'm not really satisfied with the sound of the brushwork on snare. I'm using a SM57 on the top of the snare, NT5 underneath (useless for brushwork) and SM81s for overheads. The overheads pick up a cool sound. Very old school.

Jazz guitar sound mixing
Hi! Please help me in the following: I have an Epiphone Broadway hollow jazz guitar, used with flat wound Tomastic strings, pluged into a Fender Concert full tube amp, and I use a little of the mechanik reverb into it. Have a big membran condenser microphone for the amp. I have a Boss GT8 effect pedal too.

Getting the jazz Guitar sound
Hi,
I was wondering if someone could help me figure out how to get the thick lead guitar sound of jazz guitar that you hear on recorded music like smooth jazz songs.
Can someone tell me what kind of gear I need to get that sound. Below is what I have but can't get the sound I want. Can someone advice me and let me know if I can use my gear. Thanks.

Jazz Sextet
Hello, I've recorded for the first time a band and it happens to be the jazz sextet my brother has. It was recorded in a bedroom with a NT2A (fig. 8 -5 dB pad) and a SM58 straight to my Ultralite and then to logic.
Flujo & NewOne have a direct piano line.

Jazz quintet excerpt
Greetings,
I've been recording musicians in my neighborhood. Here is a song excerpt. The group is a quintet led by sax player Carlos Crull. Carlos is the best known jazz musician gigging in my hometown of Pueblo, CO. This group plays a weekly gig at my neighborhood bar. They set up in a corner, I stick an ORTF mic pair in front of them and hit record.
