i need lots of help with the kick drum

I'm a beginner. i have some idea and have read a little about dealing with the kick but id like to know much more. so i figure someone on here migt have some useful information. ill start out with some info on what I'm using.
kick drum has an evan emad bass drum head but no resonent head.
I'm using a BETA 52 and cheap cables

I'm don't want to get into calculations or room dimensions (a good meter let's me know outside of the calculator where the actual wave is frequenting)
So let's say all the works done and you can capture any peak frequency you want.

Some expert advice needed on MIX...bass and kick

hey guys whts up...i m doing mixing now a days of an album i have done.. i m dealing with the person who has some issues with the bass...he wants his bass to stand out as well as kick... his voice is very MIDDY. and yet he wants the crisp... now i have mixed it quite well the thing is i m confused about selecting bass tone...

Pflumpf (spelling?) of bass drum a result of soft clip?

I'm trying to get that smooth high frequency pflumpf (did I spell it right?) of the bass drum in professionally mastered songs. Is it just an artifact of a really expernsive volume maximizer with soft clip? Or of tape saturation? Do my ears deceive me that the soft clipping is also a bit wider in the stereo field?
