Laptop Question
I'm interested in buying a laptop for school, but I also want to use it for recording music. I've heard a lot of conflicting opinions about Macs vs PCs and what to buy. Does anyone know/have an opinion on if it's worth spending the extra money for the multimedia/sound aspects of a Mac? Or should I go with a PC and put the money towards a good external sound card?

Best portable interface for PC Laptop?
What's good? Just got a laptop I can use while traveling to work on mixes while on the go. Will be moving to an Ibook in the future, but right I'm on PC running Logic Platinum 5.5.1. Any suggestions on a GOOD interface, portable, as I travel a lot and would like to take in progress mixes with me to keep things moving.
Thanks
LRG

plugging powered monitors into laptop
i'm just getting setup to mix tracks that i've recorded into my Tascam 2488 on a laptop using Cubase sl. i have Behringer 2031a truth powered monitors, and i'm wondering how to plug them into the laptop. i've heard from some people that a $5 1/8 inch to balanced line converter will do, while others have told me that a usb or firewire interface with a monitor out is in order.

firepod/laptop setup with an external firewire HD?
i'm going to be using a PreSonus firepod with a laptop, 1400 MHz processor, 260,000 KB RAM, and i'll be working with the version of Cubase that comes standard with the firepod. the laptop only has one firewire port (which the firepod will be connected to), the firepod has two, one of which will obviously go to the computer. a few questions:

Pro Audio Laptops
I'm going to upgrade soon and purchase a new machine. The last one I bought was a P III with a lot of RAM and Win XP from HP. I'm wondering is there anywhere you can get Laptops built specifically with Music Production in mind? Any web links are appreciated, bearing in my I'm in Ireland so US stores mightn't be much help to me.
