Can anyone help? Recording A CD Into Logic From A Laptop

I'm using a Apple Powerbook and I'm trying to record a CD in the Powerbook into logic as an audio recording so I can play about with it. Used to be able to do this using Cubase but I'm totally stumped. Tried it using my built in microphone which just records external sound, how do I record a CD? Many thanks in advance if you can help.

mobile rig without a laptop

I want to rack mount my pc.

Not sure if its a great idea, as far as bumps and things that occur on the road.

What I want to do is strip out a van that I can use as a mobile control room so I can record bands either where they practice or at a show. I would rather spend $1800 on mics and snakes and cables than a laptop, although I'm sure I'll move to one in the future.

How to record guitar and voice into laptop?

I am a acoustic and electric guitar player/songwriter and am trying to record guitar/vocal ideas into my laptop when I travel. I have a Pentium 4 laptop with 1 GB RAM, a minidisc player and may get a Line6 Guitar Port. Would you recommend an affordable USB preamp? I am trying to save from carrying the least equipment.
Your feedback is appreciated.

Noise, caused by the laptop, perhaps?

Hi guys,

I have this simple mobile setup which consists of a Dell laptop (slightly old version, I think - 1GHz processor, 256MB RAM and 10GB harddisk, but enough for tracking on the road), a M-Audio FireWire 410 connected via a firewire CardBus adapter and a couple of ADK large diaphragm microphones. Not the most powerful quality setup, but the budget isn't overwhelming either.

Problems with Edirol FA-101 and IBM X31 Laptop

Dear experts,

I have anoying problem with my FA-101 FireWire box and IBM X31 Laptop PC. First 15-30 minutes everything works smoothly but after awhile pops, clicks and silent periods start occure. As the time goes on the situation gets worse, ending up to dead audio interface = no sound in nor out. Complete boot for the IBM is only medicine I have figured out so far.
