Live Vocal Rig
We're going to start gigging soon and I want to have as much control over my vocal sound as possible. Whenever I have gigged in my old bands I've just put up with whatever the soundguy did at the time, but after running my voice through the tube preamp, and having control of the effects through a zoom G9.2tt, I am keen to build my sound on a few channels.

equipment help--filming live performance
hello all,
normally i comb literally every crack of a forum for the information i need, but tonight...unfortunately i have to ask without doing much of my own researching...
I'm helping out some friends film a live music performance in a venue tomorrow night--more documentary style--but tonight we just found out they want us to get as clean audio as possible.

Stereo panning in live sound
In another thread someone asked, "Why would you pan things in a live mix? It seems to me all this would accomplish is different parts of the audience hearing differenct mixes...and this doesn't seem like a good idea..." I thought it would be good to start a new thread on this subject.

SM58 for studio live run through
When Micing a singer/guitarist, and perchance say that you are using an SM58 for the vocal mic, how would you position the mic to the singer? I sing straight into the mic with the back pointed at the amp to take advantage of the null zone of the cardioid pattern. But I always get better tone when I retrack it later holding the mic under my lips.

How To Take Care Of Live Equipment
Long story short, I'm running quite a bit of sound lately and I'm finding it difficult, a pain, and risky hauling all of my equipment (speakers, amps, effects, mixer, etc) in the back of my pickup truck. I'm going to start looking into a small 5x8 enclosed trailer that I can pull. My goal is to be able to not only use the trailer to haul everything, but to also store everything as well.

1st Post: Live acous/elec gig room Micing - sml or lg dia?
Hello. This is my first post here on the forum. I've posted in quite a few other groups but hadn't found recording.org before. I thought I'd start with a question that I've tried improving on with fairly poor results:
software for live recording
hello all,
i've been using Sony vegas pro for 2 years just for live recording. that's what i've been taught how to use and i've always been afraid to try new things. now I'm ready to move on and try other software. i was wondering if anyone had some suggestions i.e. Cubase n' Pro Tools. or if anyone thinks i should just stick to Sony vegas? thanks much

M260 Preamp - Live in Bum @#$% Egypt
I'm looking for a low cost premp to drive my Beyer M260 this is a bit above what I would like to pay but looks very interesting. I live so far off the beaten path I can't try stuff out which sucks. Any other suggestions? Are the PreSonus BlueTube DP Stereo Dual Path Microphone/Instrument Preamp With 12AX7 Tube I like the price break.

Live Stand Up
I was watching stand up comedy on television the other night and something hit me. The comic was waving the mic all around and using the mic at all distances from his mouth. The thing that caught me off guard was that there wasn't much difference in sound as he did this.
