Mastering today vs. . 15 years ago. .
I was just wondering if I could master my own album with a cassette tape, my audigy card, and a 1/4 to XLR mic cable? I don't have a cassette player, and my computer is broken. what should I do in this situation?
Just kidding guys!

Recording and Mastering Setup Questions...
Greetings,
I'm attempting to setup a recording/mastering studio at my church. We currently have a Yamaha 01v96 digital board running 32 tracks.
My thoughts were to purchase an Alesis HD24 to record the audio and then master the audio on a PC. My question is, is there a better way of doing this and if not, what all-purpose audio software would you recommend?

Very uninformed question about mastering...
Exactly how would I master something after recording it with a DAW and finalizing a CD? I know that I can use the software that I have for that (Logic express 7), but I'm not entirely sure what I'm doing here. Any help is greatly appreciated. Thanks.

ready for mastering
ok, I've got all my final mixes ready to be burned on discs. What I need to know is...do I burn them as data files? they are 24 bit wave files. I know to burn them as Disc-at-Once. And what are ISRC codes...Do I need to write them down for the ME? (I read somewhere that I do). Also, I use Nero for burning my projects and am deciding to burn at 2x or 4x.

Mastering with Pro Tools
Ok, so here's the deal: I'm looking to start doing some mastering, and I'm a using a Digidesign 001. I plan on going Digital out of the 001 into a Crane Song HEDD, into a Manley Vari-mu, back into the Crane Song , and into the digital in of the 001. My question is this: Will this completely bypass any potential quality loss the 001 could add to the sound?

cheap mastering
I record using a Tascam 488 and I usually mix it down by plugging into my friend's sh*tty computer. Needless to say, it comes out sounding like sh*t.
What is a good, cheap program I can use to keep some of the fidelity that I am losing at the moment using my present system.

mastering chain
I'm going to try to master an album I just finished and was
curious about the signal chain. The music is not, but sounds
a lot like Tom Petty with the drums etc... Be that as it may,
I've recording to tape then dropped it in digitally through
Apogee to do some edits.
