Drum Mics
I was wondering if any of those pre-made drum mic kits are any good? Is there one that's fairly cheap, but sounds good?

Shure v. Sennheiser- Which Mics to get?
Hello,
I'm planning on purchasing an mbox/pro tools rig, but I need help choosing which mics to buy.
I went to guitar center to just look around and decided to ask the guy which 2 mics he would recommend (I'm looking to spend around $100 per mic, one for guitar, one for vocals).

Drum mics. are Audix mics good?
hey guys how's the going?
i've been told the D112 is the standard for kick drums. i was also told the Audix D6 was better for recording than the D112. also was told that Beyer M88 'wears out ' pretty fast and i would have to replace the capsule a lot ( except for the older m88 ones.. ). then there's also that Electro-Voice mic...

Need help on mics for classical recordings
Hello,
I've got some projects of classical recordings. One of them is a recording of an small orchestra with 2 or 3 vocal soloists. Another project is of recording a pipe organ in a cathedral.
I've recorded previously some pipe organs and few string quartets, but now I'm looking for a good pair of mics.

Drum Overhead pattern using 3 mics?
Just thinking about experimenting here, and I'm sure someone has done this before... I've seen live drum setups that use 2 pairs of LDC mics (Mike Portnoy of Dream Theater for example) but I don't know if they're as concerned with phase as we are around here...

One or Two mics on snare?
I started this as a separate topic from SM-57 on snare because I have a different experience. Drummers ALWAYS loved my snare sound and I never used two mics. I "could" have used a bottom mic to add the snare sound, but every time I tried it I dumped it because I didn't need it. I can't think of one session where a drummer asked me "where is the snare sound?"

Why are DVD-V dynamics disappearing?
I know that the issue of dynamics in recent releases has been debated a lot. Although, what I don't quite understand is why DVD-V titles are suffering from this trend as well. Wasn't the whole metADATa concept implemented in order to create more options? It is depressing that I enjoy DVDs from a few years back more than recent releases with their current lack of dynamic range.
