I have a Mackie 24.8 bus Analogue mixer but it just isn't getting used or I should say it's a glorified monitoring desk. I've how moved to software for mixing and use a patchbayto connect all my outboard to my converters.

Tell me, why isn't this recording setup ever used (or is it?):

inputs (drums, guitars etc) > mixer (and preamsp, effects etc) > computer > monitors
where inputs from the mixer are grouped and then sent to inputs on the computers soundcard (obviously I'm talking a multi input card, eg: Waveterminal 192M)

I recently upgraded to a stereo mixer, part out of a need for more power, part out of a need to seperate guitar and vocal EQ for home recording use.

Could someone point out what exactly is wrong with this article?

Im looking to upgrade my daw from the Tascam us-428 i have now. I was almost set on purchasing the aardvark Q10 but then i started looking at other things like digital mixers. I know with the Q10 you could record 8 tracks at once which each show up in Cubase as 8 different tracks.

I am using a delta 410 for my audio interface. It has two analog ins, and 10 analog outs. I want to incorporate a mixer into my setup, so that I don't have to unplug my guitar, to plugin my bass, or unplug my microphone to plugin my keyboard. Would one mixer be enough?
