More direct path then Mic Pre->Mixer->AD converters ?

I am sure we would all agree that the ideal signal path would be direct from Mic Pre to line in of the soundcard when recording to a DAW.

However I still need to monitor the Mic Pre source, so what I do like many others I suppose, is to go direct to my line in on my small mixer and take a direct line out of that to the soundcard.

Midi Mixer

I am looking for a hardware midi mixer with which I can quickly change the midi channel my keyboard transmits from and also the midi channel my software (Garritan Personal Orchestra and Cubase SX) recieves on.It should also have a few effect contols such as modulation wheel which my keyboard does not have and reverb depth etc.

Best 32/8 recording mixer under 3k.

:) Not kidding, an ambitiuos young studio owner expressed that his client's, before even considering doing business, ask "How many tracks you got on your board?".

This is common to a particular culture of Island Hip-Hop. So, I told him I would ask around. I told him to get the best one you can, within your budget.

Any suggestions?

Thanks,

connecting my mixer to my quadraverb...how hard could it

When I connect my Mackie cr1604's "aux/monitor outputs" channel 2 to the quadraverb's input, then I connect the "aux returns to master" channel 2 to the quadraverbs output I should get the desired effect if the aux pot and the aux level are set to unity, correct? I hear the guitar coming out of my monitors but there is no effect of the guitar.
