Mixing rock guitar solos
Any general advice on how best to mix a guitar solo for modern rock ala Sevendust and heavier styles. I'm guessing that relatively narrow frequency bands are best suited for this. Last time I recorded an entire CD, I know that solo mixing was a tough part of it. I did ALL kinds of volume automation to try and make things fit and it was "ok" in the end but not great.

What about a Mixing-Board this days?
hello folks, what do you think of having, on this computer days, a mixing board on studio, i saw one yesterday on a pawnshop at Barcelona, Spain, it was a Yamaha MG102c at a very low price, i bought it cuz i'm planning to get serious about recording, so, in my opinion, every serious studio should have on mixing board just in case or for getting some live recording, even for the EQ and compresso

Low budget multitrack recording and mixing questions
I've got another Sunday session with Carlos Crull's jazz group (a quartet this week) recorded and archived. This week I used my Jecklin disk with Avenson ST02 pair. I'll post a song when I can to it.
Advice for mixing recorded tracks?
Hi, my band and I are in the process of recording a CD. We have a few songs completely recorded and are starting to mix them down. what's the best way to listen to the tracks as I'm mixing them? We have some nice Sennheiser headphones, a pretty decent stereo system connected to the computer and we also have some crappy $15 standard mp3 player headphones.

mixing doubled vocals
Hello, I am recording a song that's has the attitude of Foo Fighters' songs, sort of. The singer has a strong voice but it's 100% clean. There is no growl in his performance. We want to double or triple the main melody to make his vocals sound thicker. Is there any effect that can be added to the vocals to enhance the rock attitude? How should I pan these tracks?
thank you guys!

cello-piano mixing advice needed
Hello, I need some advice on mixing cello and piano duo. I am using sampled technology, but the problem is that I can't find any settings for cello or piano positioning, mixing etc. How loud to be the piano, which position to be simulated for it, the same goes for the cello.

Mixing Exercise
This weekend I did an interesting exercise with one of the songs that I am mixing, and learned a couple of things. I also am curios as to what other people think of this technique.

Is it acceptable to bounce a song without the vocals, then open a new session and recording and mix the vocals along side the 2 track mix?

mixing outside the box using Apogeeplus digi converters
Hi I'm just mixing inside the box right now but i was planning on buyin a Neve 8816 summing mixer. My setup right now is an Apogeerossetta hooked up to a digi 003. My question is should i route out using the 8 Apogeeconverters; or used the 8 digi outputs plus the 8 rossetas, or is it real worth it to buy another rossetta.
