Sonar mixing in surround
I'm getting interested in mixing in surround sound and I was curious if anyone had any tips on getting started. I currently have Sonar 7 studio, but I was wondering if only the producer edition supports surround sound mixing. Also, I was just curious whether anyone else on the forums mix in surround. thanks

Mixing mistakes: Problem with high-frequency build-up
All of my tracks are composed of synths, VSTi's, vox and guitar, and always ITB. There is always a harshness to my completed work that I have trouble avoiding. I'm aware of it, always, and almost never boost any of my eq's.
The Merits of Mixing on Stand-Alone Recorder, or Computer
I record onto an 8-track stand-alone recorder (Yahama MD8) records digitally through their analog mixer. It is an oldie, but a goodie, however as it is older, it does not have any kind of digital output. The only outputs are analog.
How do you approach mixing?
I'm interested in exploring some different routes to completing mixes. I generally write/record the music and do quick adjustments to the mix at the same time. When I've finished the writing/recording process, I go back and tweak.

Mixing Duets
I always find mixing duets quite difficult, the difficulty I have being that whatever I seem to do, I can never get the two vocals at exactly the same level - any handy hints and tips?

Reference monitors for mixing
It's time for me to upgrade my main monitor set-up (actually a pair of KRK RP8) in my control room.
I found my KRKs too much "plastic" and colored on certain frequencies (for example my solo piano recordings are very "unrealistic", hyped on treble and muffled on mid-low), even if they're very detailed.

Understanding mixing desks
Hi everyone.
This may sound like a stupid question, but seeing as though I'm still a "newbie", here goes.
Can someone please explain what the function of the subgroups on a mixer is and how they work? I own a Behringer Xenyx 2442fx pro.
Thanks :D
