Howdy! Got some questions and hope I can get a little advice. Just found this site last week and have found some great info!

I'm looking for an opinion here. The situation, I need to record a minimum of 16 tracks live for a tour(I could use 24 with ease). I am wondering which format is the most reliable at best. I would like to be able to pull drives from the machine and open in PT. I like the Tascam unit on paper because of this feature.

I need some suggestions for recording 2-track live feeds, or for capturing sound-effects. Something under $800.

Has anyone used this?

I am looking for a second interface for my second computer (so I can kick out simple ideas when I am at home, away from my primary system)

I do not need it to be great quality, just acceptable.

What IS important to me is that it does not introduce crashes and crap out the other stuff running on my home system.

i have made enough $ recording local shows in just over a month with my Tascam us122 to step up my mobile rig. i am thinking Focusrite octopre and layla with the pcmcia adaptor. anybody else doing live recording in clubs on a laptop? what do you use?

I'm a musician turned engineer. Just finished school (recording workshop OH). I'm interested in building a mobile recording set-up for live sound. I would like to use the clubs mics by splitting the signal via snake. Any suggestions on gear or how I should approach this?

I am trying to setup a 001 for mobile recording. I wonder if anyone here could recommend any models for laptop/firewire drive/lunchbox computer that has been proven to work with the 001. Is a firewire drive a necessity or a luxury?
I am planning to record primarily stereo live tracks but if possible also live multitrack recording using another hardware interface.

I need to be able to edit at home or on the road...mostly comping and tuning vocals, some loop based stuff which would be taken back to the mix+ rig and up loaded. Track count isn't an issue as I'd plan on taking a abbreviated mix for reference for the comping.
