msp5 / auratones / subwoofer

Okay, so after thinking and reading alot, I think I'm going to stick with my msp5s for mixing. I feel like they're accurate - the only gripe I have is low-end.

I'm adding some auratones through a haefler amp for some hi-fi (low-fi) mix-checking.

I'd also like to add a subwoofer for just checking how it sounds down there once in a while. I won't actually mix with it on.

studio monitors stand up or lay down

Hi i'm looking some pics over the net and i c that most studio monitors at pro studios ar laying down with the tweeter facing outside, Is it better or what?, i try my own monitors at the two positions (standing up and laying down)(tweeters out and in) and it seems to be a little bit difference in hi freq response.

One more question about studio monitors

I am relatively new to the business and just blew up one of my old Alesis Monitor ones. After going to a few shops around, I realized that I really needed a good pair of passive monitors. Those Alesis really weren't really up to snuff. I have seen some Genelecs, Events and Dynaudio. I have a relatively large control room and would be using the new monitors for both tracking and mixing.

I have $650 to spend on mixdown monitors. Any suggestions?

I need advice on buying a new set of studio monitors. I'll mainly be doing music mixidowns, and a little film post work and some light mastering jobs. Heres the catch...I don't want to spend over $650.
I'm seriously considering the Tannoy System 600 monitors.
Has anyone heard these? Dones anyone have any suggestions for monitors that would be better?
-thanks

best 1k monitors for acccurate low end

Bass is very crucial for my recordings and i've narrowed my monitor search down to the KRK V8's and the Mackie HR624's. These will be used in different studios and environments so a consistent and well translating bass response is needed. Anyone who has had experience with these monitors chime in...

thanks,
jeremy
