I've seriously enjoyed reading the :
"A General Statement on the importance of great monitors"
and the many other convoluted monitor rants on this forum.

When doing a remote gig do you guys use headphones for monitoring or bring a set of monitors? If headphones what type would you use for chamber group recording or jazz quartet? If monitors do you bring something big or small? I plan on doing some gigs inside a church as well as a school rehearsal room.

I recently took a listen to Wharfedale's Diamond 9 line of speakers for (somewhat) budget-minded audiophiles. They seem to perform just as well (despite having to be powered) as many of the more expensive studio monitors I have seen.

Events have had a cult following for years now - and rightfully so. Their 20/20 BAS was probably one of the most groundbreaking products to hit monitors since the Alesis (not saying I like the Alesis, but it does hold a certain place in history for providing garage engineers a monitoring solution that wouldn't break the bank.)

I'm about to buy my first pair of studio monitors. I made a research 6-7 months ago for getting a pair and I was finally set on the Yamaha MSP5's. I didnt get them though cause something personal happened and my initial budget had to be spend on something else.

I apologize if I am asking a question that has been done before... or if innapropriate.

hey guys probably the worst question ever i know the answer but i just wanna know for sure from pressionals, when connecting monitors you use speaker cables right? can you use mic cables cause thats what the guy at a music store gave to my mother idk why but he did?

Davedog you mentioned that you were quite familiar with these monitors and that they need a good linear amplifier to achieve maximum performance. Could you, or anyone else here, recommend a few of amplifiers from differenct price ranges that would do the job. I am not really familiar with the intricacies of amplifiers and have no idea what a decent amp costs.

Im currently looking into powered monitors and have about $600 tops to spend... I have read in quite a few places that KRK monitors are an excellent choice for the price range and will serve their purpose well. My questions are in the series and size... I would only be able to afford the V6 in the V-Series 2.
