Monitors: passive or active
I'm looking at getting some monitors soon. Some manufacturers make a passive and active versions of the same model. Specifically, I was thinking of the Dynaudio BM6a ($1700) vs. the Dynaudio BM6 + Hafler 3000 ($1300). Is the Hafler just not providing enough power in this situation?

Active/Passive Monitors - switching
I have been using two sets of passive speakers as monitors - easy to flip back and forth. Now I'm considering getting a pair of active monitors.
Any ideas about how to conveniently use more than one set of speakers when active monitors are involved would be much appreciated - this is new for me.
Thanks,
TC

Monitors (again) - a bit pricier
I'm shopping for new nearfields (finally replacing NS-10s) for my studio. I'm looking in the "around $1,000 - up - to - $1500 - maybe" range. I went to 2 stores today and listened. I heard the Mackie 624s and 824s, the Genelec 1030s and 1029s, Tannoy Reveals, Event TR5s, and a few others.

Hafler TRM8 vs. . Mackie Hr824
Has anyone had the chance to do AB comparison between these speakers ?
I made a few listenings with the 824's, but when I heard the Hafler I was truly amazed, I felt like the speakers had vanished and the music (and sound) was now revealed to me with better image, depth and clarity then ever before, detail without the harshness of cheaper monitors.

Mackie HR824's revisited
Well, you were all right.
By that I mean that the 824's, though nice sounding to track on, and usable to mix on, were funny sounding in the low end, which has made translation to other speakers a major hit and miss affair.

NS1000M monitors
I found another set of 1000's on ebay.
Again, not the seller, just a public service annoucement.
The grills are missing from the woofers and the seller states that it improved them due to "ringing"

Dual Monitors with KVM Switch
I am currently using a Belkin OmniView SE 4 port KVM switch to control my DAW and a 2nd computer which I use for internet surfing and office apps. I want to use two monitors with the KVM switch. I have seen a splitter which boasts and splits the VGA signal at http:// Would it work for my application? The office app computer has an ATI Rage card, the DAW has a Matrox G550 card.

Upgrading Studio Monitors
Hi friends!
a) when do you think is it time to upgrade your monitors? at each 5 years? I am not mentioning here substitution of pieces, like tweeters, connectors, crossoverss and so. I know this question looks weird, because some guys spend lots of years with the same monitors...
