If a client brings you a 24 bit recording and only wants a mastered digital version of it, do you go ahead and dither it down to 16 bit even if they only want it for online distribution/not for CD?

Hello all. I am still very new to all this, but I'm using an MXL 990 mic wit NADY phantom power, XLR to 1/8 on a realtek ALC892 sound.

Basically I want to know if there's a way to write info to digital format music files. I want to put in the artist/song/isrc code/album art and possibly even lyrics. I've heard talk of this but am actually to where I want to do it now so any insight would be much appreciated.

As we all know, an MP3's time is consistent and will line up with a parent wave file(at least on a 4 minute song.) But why does an mp3 have anywhere from 20-30ms of extra time at the beginning of the file?

So here's a question that's been bugging me for some time. Say I have a song I've recorded in 48k, I bounce it (mixdown) to both a wav and an mp3, without downsampling to 44.1 so I can maintain as much quality for mastering.

used to use WaveLab 4 for this task ( Fraunhofer mp3 encoding)...but upgrading to v5 only gives the user 20 shots...then Steinberg tells you the mp3 plugin is no longer supoported in WL (!#$%^&*!~?).

So...since I'm a die-hard Fraunhofer man...
