Noise (hiss) using SM57 / SM58 - should I swap to 2 condenser's
Hey,
I am recording stereo acoustic guitar. The only mics I have are a Shure SM57 and a Shure SM58 - so I'm using 1 near the 12th fret and 1 near the bridge.
Hum noise in recordings..
I just got a multi-track recorder and I'm new to the process so excuse my ignorance. After connecting the LINE output from my amplifier to the recorder and turn up the volume on the recorder, I can hear a consistent hum noise, but when I touch the recorder itself with my hand or one of the 1/4 cord inputs connected to my guitar or the recorder the noise almost completely stops..

Mouth Noise
I an recording a singer that sings very quietly. To get a good level I have to crank up the gain. I am getting lots of mouth noise and no amount of water or apple juice seem to fix the problem. I can remove most of the noise but it is time consumming. I have tried different mics, U87, AKG 414, Cad, and am now using 421 with pop filter and wind screen. Still getting it.

Swirling noise during recording.
Hi all,
I'm just trying to do some basic recording at home, with a mic running from my laptop to my guitar amp. When i record though, I'm getting this swirling, hollow sound on the recordings.
Is there a way to get rid of it or prevent it?
Cheers
Bicko.

noise coming from the window
Hello, I live in a apartment surrounded by quiet neighbors. No problem regarding any noise leaking through walls. The only problem is the window that faces the street.
How do I block the noise that leaks through the street window?
Thank you

GSM noise from cellphones while using Zoom 4
A friend just sent me a disc from a live recording he made over the weekend using his Zoom 4 hand-held recorder. Several times during the performance there was a serious interference problem from people nearby who were using GSM cell phones (AT&T, T-Mobile, etc).

AC Noise (w/ audio sample)
I moved into a new house about a month ago. The power in the recording area (a former garage converted into a bedroom) is really dirty: I can't record guitar amps right now because the noise is so bad. But I also found out this morning doing some acoustic guitar work that the noise is getting in through my microphones when using a high-gain preamp.

Hello everyone,
I just have an used (but in good shape) Studer A807.
Today I have recorded some music to test it and I was very surprised to hear how good and different the sound was!

PC noise when recording - I'm totally stumped
Solution: An M-Audio-recommended PCI Firewire card solved this problem for me. The VIA chipset firewire on my Asus board was the cause of all the noise.

isolating electrical noise in monitors
So I've recently noticed that when my monitors are on (with nothing playing/coming out of them) that I have some really bad white noise going on. I'm not certain why I haven't heard it before, but the only thing that I can think of is that my room has recently been treated with various Auralex items as well as some thick curtains, etc. It's basically a lot more quiet and revealing.
