I want to do some reamping to experiment with tones and mic placement on my tube amp.

I've read that one can't just come out of an output of a DAW, stuff a 1/4" jack into an amp and have it work well.

Hello all, if you have advice for me, I'd very much appreciate it. If there are already threads on this, sorry I haven't found them yet.

I purchased (second-hand) the Omega interface, and bought some mics (MXL 990,991). I'm running 10.4.11 on my mac, and have yet to get the required installer to run the Cubase LE that came with the Omega, so I'm using GarageBand.

I just bought a Saffire 6 USB. As some might recall, I had made several posts related to interfaces some time ago. I actually bought the Saffire Pro 14, in order to get up to 96Khz sampling, but the Firewire was a disaster, with tons of dropouts and random digititis, so I exchanged it for the USB 6.

I just acquired a Fostex X-28 four track cassette recorder for cheap to record demos on while I search for a proper recording set-up.

Term used to describe an object with an integral output connector, which plugs into a matching connector on a receiving object. For example, a gooseneck microphone with an output connector that will plug into a matching jack.

I know they are commonly used for effect insert loops, but can i use them to go from a single 1/4 headphone out port to left and right 1/4 jack using the said stereo y-cable?

When recording vocals, I often hear that the music in the backround is very bad quality.

How can I record my vocals, while haveing good backround music?

Do I need a speacial program to record the music in the backround?

Do I let the mic record my voice and the backround music?
