I'm very new to this forum. I have been looking for an Interface for my computer with really good converters, and enough inputs (XLR and 1/4 in.) to allow me to get around comfortably.

Hi folks. I'd previously looked at Fairlight stuff and thought it was pretty much too expensive for me. As it turns out possibly not.
A couple of comments on other posts here mentioned the quality of their EQ. Mostly positive. Anybody able to shed more light on this?
Also.

what does consolidate selection to the sound exactliy? what happens if I consolidate the same audio several times?

Has anyone ever compared Logic's sound quality to other DAWs (Nuendo, DP, Paris, etc)? Just curious if there is a significant difference between any of them, or if it all comes down to what you put in and the quality of plugins/mix tools you use.

Any sources for high-quality cables without the hype? In my area all I can get is Monster Cables- they primp and preen and write you a resume but they don't even tell you what gauge the copper is!
I'm thinking good solid mechanical connections, fat ample copper, and best of all, sounds great! Is it this simple or what should I know?

The question is--is it really possible to get the same digital audio integrity out of a properly set up PC or Mac DAW as out of a stand alone unit, like a Tascam DA-88?

OK to you play your mix then flip over to "The Next Big Thing's lastest CD or whatever you use as a bench mark...(this is caled A/Bing btw)

But the commercial CD is MASTERED! Your mix is NOT!

What if the commercial CD is WAY louder than your mix?

Is your CD player's output sound, one you can trust?

Someone told me that 3.0 has aliasing on the high-endin 3.0 and recommends 2.2 He is a mastering engineer and seems to know what he is talking about.

Has anyone heard a difference? This is the only reason I am holding back on 3.0.

Does anyone have experience with Carvin mixing consoles? A band I work with is looking into a new board and it seems Carvin offers some very nice boards for several hundred $$ less than Mackies / Soundcraft / Alesis etc...

So are you saving money because you are buying direct or is the quality less than ideal? Anyone here know?
