Ribbon Mic Suggestions M260?
Hi all, I am in the market for a new flavor mic and have wanted to get a ribbon mic. This is my hobby studio, I just write my own music, record it, and occasionally record my friends band for demos. Nothing major. But I would like to get a ribbon for vocals and possibly Micing some Pipes, from reading here I'm guessing the ribbon gives kind of more of a bluesy vocal sound.

RME Fireface with a ribbon?
I’ve been a lurker of this forum for some time (only recently creating a user account). Based on your input, I’ve bought an RME Fireface 800, a pair of BM5A’S, an SM7B, RODE NT2A, and ART MPA Gold, ART VLA compressor, among a few other things.

ribbon mics and preamps
Im trying to figure out what kind of mic to upgrade to but I'm having some trouble.
Im not sure whether i should spend a little more money getting a ribbon mic that seems really versatile or getting a much nicer condensor than the one I already have.

will my pres be enough for cascade fatheads?
i just bought a pair of cascade fatheads and am expecting them any day now. however, i'm not so sure that my preamps are up to par with giving them enough gain. currently, i'm using a Mackie onyx 800r and an ART Pro MPA. will these be enough? if not, can anyone suggest a pair of preamps for the fatheads that would also serve as a good compliment to the pres i already have?

Nady Ribbon Mics
There are cheap as dirt? Worth the money for something a little different?
I am looking at the Nady RSM-2. its $200. I mean I really can not go wrong. But I also don't want to be left thinking that i could have gotten a pair of 57s with that cash. And we can all use more 57s.

Anyone here compare Cascade Fathead to M130?
I'm looking to get one or two ribbons (a new venture for this condenser addict) mainly for use as vocal or instrumental spots in classical work; just maybe as choral pickups when dealing with brass in the back row of an orch, or JUUUST MAAAAAYBE as a Blumlein pr. I'd be interested in any aneCDotes/experiences/recommendations retaled to these two mics in these applications.
Cheers!

Cascade Fathead Ribbon Mics
I think I asked about these before, but people had not had a chance to really get their hands on them yet. JoeH gave a quick thumbs up in a previous thread. Has anyone else tried these out? I'm very interested, but keep telling myself, " if it looks too good to be true..." I mean, come on - two ribbon mics, shock mounts, case, Blumlein bar for $325? What's the catch?

preamp for ribbon mics
Hi all. I've got a friend who recently did a factory-direct buy of some Chinese mics. He's holding a pair of ribbon mics (they're un-branded, but the same as the rectangular bodied Avantone ribbons) for me. The price is right, but I'm wondering about the cheap pre's I have, and if they will cut it with a pair of ribbons.
