AT4080 AT4081 Ribbon Mics
Audio-Technica Ribbons look interesting. Anyone have the opportunity to demo either of these?
Nice to see Full Compass adding more videos, Kudo's there.
Also, Steve Levine talks about the Radial Phaser is something on my wish list.
Cheers!

audio example of ribbon mic on vocals
Lots of talk regarding ribbon mics these past few weeks, I thought I'd post an audio example of the sound of a ribbon on my voice.
I chose to write a track that would be reminscent of when these mics were used in their heyday - kind of a jazzy/pop standard thing.
For this track, I borrowed an RCA 44BX for the vocals on this one.
Preamp was a Grace Model 101.

Austin DIY Ribbon kits?
Hi everyone, I'm finally trying to get back in the swing with recording, and would like to try another mic. Right now I only use an SM57 (not very often, truthfully) but mostly my RODE NT2-A, which I am liking the sound on everything I do, acoustic guitar, electric, and vocals.

Looking for a warm, round, vintage sounding mic (perferrably Ribbon)
I'm a professional composer looking to purchase a new mic that produces a round warm vintage sound recording for jazz pieces.
Replacing Microphone Ribbon
So, I decided to replace the ribbon in my matched pair of Cascade Fatheads with 2.5u foil. The good news is that they both sound immeasurably better than they did. The bad news is that they sound subtly different, which is not good as they are meant to be a matched pair.

Cascade Ribbon Microphones on Leslie Cabinet
I had to have my ribbons on my Cascade microphones remounted and I think it was from having the microphones to close to the rotating horn on top. There is some wind generated by the horn when on fast speed.
