Need Recommendation: Cheap Ribbon Mic Pre
Hi,
I've got several cheap mic preamps for a number of cheap mics and I'm satisfied. However, I'm currently demoing a ShinyBox 46MXL which I -really- like, but for the fact that none of my mic preamps generate anywhere NEAR enough gain to make it practicable.
Any recommendations on a good match that won't break the bank?

What should i do with these RCA ribbon mics
I recently acquired
3 RCA 77-D Ribbon mics
1 RCA WNAR mic
I am going to be getting them restored, but are they really worth keeping or should i sell them on ebay?
I kinda am afraid to keep them. What would you use them for?

Song clip using AT4080
So, I've finally gotten around to recording a bit with the AT4080 and have to say that I really like it so far. I can't offer comparisons to really anything else other than the Fat Head 2, which I sold, but thought it may be worthwhile to post a clip since there aren't really any/many out there to be found for those that are interested in this microphone.

A good look-up concerning ST mic pairs, + ribbons
I just did a search w/ the terms "beyer" and "ribbon", looking to get a little more info on the 160/130 pair and its typical pricing.
If you're interested in drum OH selections, ribbon mic selections, or choices regarding sax, flute, violin/fiddle, a ribbon mic shootout, and so much more...
Ribbon mic shopping
Hey guys. I've had a Fat Head 2 for a while, but just sold it to my buddy as I wanted to get a stereo pair with the Lundahl transformers instead. However, the more I think about it, the more I'm looking outside of that option at some other ideas, hence I'd like some opinions.

Royer R-122 for Acoustic Guitar
I have a couple of these and will be using them in the next few weeks for a festival and then for my next album that I hope to finish by 2011. I know most would use the R121 in the past, I went for the R-122.
I wanted to share this audio clip of Bruce Swedien.
