Royer active vs. . passive, whats the difference?
I'm thinking about buying a Royer and a nice quiet pre to match but can't decide between the active phantom powered model or the passive model. Is there any differnce in sound between the two? I'd like to be able to use the Royer with more than just the best mic preamp for artistic purposes.
Beyer Dynamic Ribbons
Looks like a very small windfall has come my way and the mic bug has bitten. Ribbon's are what I said I was going to get next...Sooooo...a
question(semi-directed to Nathan since I know he uses them)regarding Beyer Ribbons.

Tube Royer Ribbon Mic!
Yup. I saw it at NAMM. Uses a super duper tube that is out of print (Royer buys 'em for about $70 each). Mega specs, and I have forgotten all of them. It looked pretty cool, I mean warm, and damn, I forgot the model number too.
It's amazing how much you can see in 6 hours if you really try. And I had to schmooze some artists/endorsees too.

Beyer ribbons
Hi,
I don't know too much about ribbon mics, but I know I can't afford a Royer or Coles right now.
So, can someone enlighten me re: the merits and differences of the Beyer line. I know that the 130 is figure 8 and the 160, 260 and 500 are hypercardioids, but that's about it.

Royer Ribbon Condensers
I read somewhere that Royer was introducing some condenser ribbons.
Does anybody have any info?

Best processor for ribbon mics
I'm looking for the best pre and/or processor for my collection of ribbon mics.
I do voice-over work into a DAW.
What do the experts here recommend?
I'm looking at a Great River/RNC combo or a Manley Voice Box.
Any ideas?
Thanks in advance.

Shure, 330 Ribbon Mic... any good uses?
I purchased it among other things at a studio sale years ago and forgot about having it. I've never heard anyone talk about using one so I'm guessing its probably junk?
Anyone got any suggestions.
