Moving ribbons on location?
I'm about to plunge into getting an AEA R88 for location work solely (classical acoustic etc). I've long been a condenser user but wondered if anyone takes special steps to move their ribbons to location. Dealing with things like hitting bumps on the road, general road vibration, etc. Any horror stories or suggestions for safe transport and usage on site?

budget ribbon mics and the Brick DI
Hello!
I once heard a comparison between an old ribbon and a new sennheiser, on voice, and was quite taken away with the natural, non-hyped texture of the ribbon. Alwaz wanted to have one since.
Now, being a bit impatient as i am i was looking at this :

RSM-1... Ribbon?
I have a RSM-1 Nady that, I thought, was a ribbon mic. I'm new at all this and I learned in audio class that a ribbon can be broken if you just sneeze on it too hard. Well, this mic has taken a beating in my studio/bedroom and it just keeps on going. Can someone explain this to me?

Ribbon Mic Mini-forum
Hi all;
I'd like to start a sane, professional, civil discussion on the state (and spate) of ribbon mics out there available today. It seems like every time I turn around, there's a bunch of new ones availabe - some brands I've just started hearing about, some even newer than that.

Cardioid ribbons in ORTF?
I'm wondering if anyone has had success with using cardioid pattern ribbon microphones as a main pair for choir and what mics they were.

Ribbon Novice Needs Reassurance
I am considering the plunge into the world of ribbons.
Whenever I am thinking of a new direction I have often come back to this forum for some ideas and a bit of inspiration. That is how I ended up with two gefell 296s (hey no regrets there!) and Schoeps MK21 (again totally happy - who wouldnt be?).

Crowley And Tripp Ribbon Microphones
Has anyone used their microphones namely the Naked Eye model. There seems to be no reviews of how they performed available.

Ribbons on String Quartet, What's your take?
All,
I have an upcoming String Quartet session where I'll be able to test both an SF24 and a AEA R88. Having had little to no exerience with ribbons I was wondering what Your's where? Especially regarding recording String Quartet.
Reading through the forum talk on Stereo Ribbons, there's loads of mentioning of the SF24 but really nothing on the R88, any special reason?
