I already have the 4050 but am looking at getting the other 2, they are the edge of my prioce range 3K so icannot go any higher.

however i only really need 2 inputs (stereo from my triton) to go into my MAC/cubase

The PCI interface card I'm looking at buying (the RME Digi96/8 PAD) has only UNBALANCED analog inputs. Almost all the threads I've read here talk about the advantage of going all balanced. Should I drop it from consideration or is the lack of balanced inputs not a problem?

If I were to get 2 RME Fireface 800 units would I be able to use an Apogee AD16x as the converters? Or would I need 2 seperate 8 channel units such as the Rosetta800?

Also, what is the ideal situation to use an Apogee AD16x to it's fullest potential?

Any one have an opinion to share about either one of these? had the 2408 mkII at one time, got tired of the noisest box in my studio being in one space on my rack. I have a Tascam DM-24 i'm using as a front end for pre's. Have been using the Hammerfall 96/52 to my liking, but would like something with more in's and out options without having to use ADAT option cards for the Tascam. anyone?

Hey all my first post after getting lots of help as a visitor..here's my dilemma.

I am looking for good AD/DA converter to hook up with my Soundcraft Ghost console. I use outboards for tracking so on board mic preamps are not necessary. I love Apogge converters but out of my range. Please suggest me which one is better RME or PreSonus or any other equivalent to the Apogge's. thanks

Does anyone know the quaility of RME's preamps? Has anyone heard anything about this uint?
