Few months ago I bought MOTU 828 MKII. I'm very satisfied with it but
recently I heard that MOTU 828 MKII is much worst than RME Fireface. I know RME has more inputs and outputs but tell me does it really sound worst? What are the differences between them?

Im looking to upgrade my interface and somebody mentioned an RME for uprade. I looked it up, but I would like to know the abreviated term. .also within the AD/DA conv. realm I run 96hz on my audio conversion, and I notice a lot of the new converters run 192hz. .for future reference and better quality should I be looking into the 192hz conversion...

I'm thinking about buying a RME ADI-2 AD/DA converter and I'm just wondering what PCI card would best be suited for use with it.

I just purchased an RME Fireface 800. During all types of playback - Reason 2.5, CD, DVD and Mp3 playback there is a consistent crack and pop every 4 or 5 seconds.

I am running a G5 dual 2.0, OS X 10.4, 1 GB ram, brand spankin' new, Fireface connected through provided FW 400 cord.

UPS should be delivering this to me tomorrow. I bought for the reputed stabilty with Cubase and the top shelf converters. I am counting on a significant upgrade from the M-Audio Quatro currently in service. The piece I am intrigued with is the total mix software. Anyone using this that could offer up some possibilities for its use? I don't know a lot about it.

Is it possible to use pro tools LE software to record tracks from an RME fireface provided I have an Mbox? I prefer RME converters and preamps and would like to use pro tools software.

man this thing does everything I needed...with the ADAT i/o's
and midi...all the reviews I have read say these are the best audio interfaces for PC recording...if anyone is interested and needs one I got a killer price on mine and can get u one...

I am toying with the idea of using a laptop for recording recitals, audition tapes, and eventually to record band and orchestra concerts. I'm pondering the idea of starting by using a laptop and some kind of firewire based interface to record all this classical music.

I'm assumeing that they would be a lot better then the stock converters in an 002..

Am i right ?
and how do they rate compare to the real top end stuff?
I read an article where they compared it to an Apogee 8000.
