So, I'm sittin on the can reading the rag right? And I scan over monitors, mics, keyboards, and all that sort of stuff.

But then a few months ago, Bose started to stick their products in our faces...

Hi I am just starting this crazy hobby so I was wournding about any books I could buy explaining all of this stuff. Think such as recording, mixing, mastering, out bord stuff compress, mixers. . Well I'm at a point in my life where I'm seriously considering a career change. I studied at SAE Miami for two years and graduated at the top of my class (school for that matter), worked on a few demos and have really been building my recording chops for some time now.

I was just curious on peoples thoughts on the Control 24, for Pro Tools HD3? The studio I am going to be freelancing from has just upgraded to one with a HD3 system, and I was curious on peoples opinions.. and how does it measure up compared to the medium to large format analog consoles?

I know this is off topic here, but I thought some of you audio files might know the story behind what happened to California Labs,the company from Scottsdale Arizona.

OK, this is a weird one folks!

I am considering a possible studio setup where I would plug 2 separate line feeds into my monitor speakers (one TRS and one XLR). These are bi-amped monitors with both sets of connectors on the back, so they would both be line-level signals.

there were a number of very interesting posts that talked about the use of the analog Radio Shack SPL/dB meter to get an idea what kind of frequency response one is getting in their control room. The gadget is rather inexpensive so I went for it and gave it a go.
