Getting Started with a Home Studio

Hello, all. I've decided that I want to try my hand at building a home studio and I was wondering if you all could help me with the basics. The music I plan to create consists mainly of hip hop influences and will be composed of a mixture of samples and live instrumentation. Some of what I plan to buy at the moment includes:

How to reduce background noise?

I just bought a Samson CO3U USB mic, and although the sound quality is great, there is ALOT of background noise. I'm in a completely quiet room, but there always seem to be this slight buzz sound going on. If I go to mic options and click on "listen to device", I will have nothing going on in the room, and I still hear this very prominent background noise.

I have monitors but no amp!

I JUST bought my first pair of studio monitors..for years ive been mixing through nice reference headphones, and just a home stereo system. Ive had a lot of experience so its deffintly time for me to step it up. I have a pair of KRK ST6 2-Way Passive Studio Monitors, but i dont have an amp yet.. Any suggestions on what would work well with these?

Los Angeles Recording School vs SAE vs Musician's Institute?

I'm moving to LA this summer and considering doing a music production/engineering course when I'm there - either Los Angeles Record School, SAE or Musician's Institute.

I searched this forum and found some similar topics from a few years ago but wanted some recent opinions from people who've done these courses.
