I am moving to Nashville in three weeks I am getting ready to start attending SAE, I need to find a Studio or Club to work at while I'm there for the next two years to make a living. I have been recording for 6 years now three of those years professionally at a well respected studio in the Northeast Ohio area. I am highly skilled

What's the differences between the analog and digital recording chains? advantages and disadvantages of both?

I have read several articles about treating the studio for proper acoustics, and it confuses the hell out of me. Just when I think I have a plan, I read another article that turns my brain to mush.

This pertains mostly to monitoring and mixing as opposed to tracking...

I am finishing a university degree this year, and am very interested in enrolling in a sound engineer college program after I am finished. I would really appreciate some suggestions for schools to look into. I currently live in Toronto and attend University in Halifax.

I'd love to know what the pro's here, consider the most common mistakes that they hear new and inexperienced engineers making. Also what's the worst recording of a big name act you've heard? Sorry if this has been discussed before. I did do a search, but it's a difficult one to get the right keywords for.

Howdy. Ok, straight to the point. Heres my problem. Im looking into a career in Music Production - working in studios making music for stars and releasing my own material too.
But i live in the worst place ever. Nuneaton - just off Coventry!

what are some good mic placements and usage for recording drums?

kick, snare, hi hats, toms, over heads

and how about some compression settings, if any?

maybe point me at some cool articles or whatever...

With regard to boosting/cutting EQ while mastering a tune, do have a general rule you go by as to how much is accpetable versus labeling the tune as "in need of remix"? Obviously, if you need to boost or cut a freq. by 6db there is a problem. But do you try to stick within a certain range, say +/- 1 or 2db or what?

i'm about to try for a general assistant job in nyc. i'm trying for Sony first, cause they are big, and i've worked there before as an intern.

thoughts on making this work?

i finally picked up the computer that will become my daw. the only thing keeping it from being one now is it's only got a sb live in it. either way, it's all i have for a few weeks so let's get to the real problem.
