Learning the trade

I'm an old guy, but my 26-yr-old son plans to attend an "audio engineering" school in New York City. The two he's considering are Institute for Audo Research and the SAE Institute.

He's a college grad and a performing musician. He's also had some recording experience.

Opinionsabout which school provides the better training in this field?

TIA.

Choosing a recording school, Really Need Help !

I'm trying to choose a recording school to go to in the next few months but I live in India so I have nothing much to go by except for the websites of the schools. I want to go to a good school with great equipment, faculty, internship and placements. Cost is not really the factor, cause I can try for financial aid (I'm a U.S. citizen).

Any advanced recording technique classes?

I've been doing sound for many years now, most of my knowledge is from experience. Advanced, hands on training classes for working audio professionals (1 - 3 day intensive, topic driven) would be very intresting to me, and I'm sure others as well. However I don't want or need to spend a year at Full Sail or SAE. Anything like that out there?
Thanks for any responses.
